Rosin Gummies - What Are CBD Rosin Gummies?

CBD gummies may be tasty...but not all CBD gummies are created equal.

Obviously you’ll want to stay far away from gummies that get their colors or flavors from synthetic ingredients.

But there’s way more to it than that. Even the CBD content of XYZ CBD gummy needs to be all-natural and as unrefined as possible.

Keep reading to learn more about a new type of CBD gummy that’s changing up the CBD world: the CBD rosin gummy.

CBD extracts 101

In order to really understand what makes CBD rosin gummies so great, however, we need some extra context.

Most CBD gummies available on the market today are made from a select few type of CBD extracts — either butane  or CO2-extracted CBD.

Butane-extracted CBD

Butane is an ultra-strong solvent. CBD extracts made with butane are truly full spectrum, but they come with all sorts of drawbacks.

For one, the butane extraction process is dangerous. It comes with inherent risks and requires a high level of skill just to carry out safely.

The extract produced by butane extraction has common drawbacks, too. Butane-derived extracts have to be thoroughly ‘purged’ of residual butane or else the end product will be toxic. Lab analysis shows that most CBD made in this way has traces of butane and other hydrocarbons still in the final product. Not good.

CO2 extracts

C02 extraction methods have become more popular in recent years, and for good reason. Supercritical  C02 uses highly pressurized gas to gently pull the cannabinoids out of hemp flower. A clean, safe CBD extract is made in the process. This extract is far purer than what you’d get from butane.

While safe, C02 extraction is far from perfect. CO2 itself is not a universal solvent — meaning it leaves out some cannabinoids and terpenes and disproportionally captures others.  Most CO2-extracted CBD is actually broad-spectrum (not full spectrum), even if its manufacturers say otherwise. [1]

What is CBD rosin?

In the past, the above two options were all that consumers had to choose from. Either opt for a truly full spectrum butane-extract product that might also contain some low-grade toxins...or opt for a broad spectrum CO2-extracted product that might be lacking power.

Thankfully there’s a far better third option. That option is called CBD rosin.

CBD rosin isn’t technically an extract, since it doesn’t use any harsh solvents to actually extract CBD from hemp flower. Instead, CBD rosin is produced by the careful application of heat and pressure. CBD rosin accomplishes what neither butane nor CO2 extraction could:

  • It’s truly full spectrum, with a perfect blend of CBD, THC, CBG, CBN, terpenes, and flavonoids
  • It’s truly pure, lacking in any residual solvents or solvent-related byproducts

Suffice to say that CBD rosin has revolutionized the hemp industry. It’s the best type of CBD concentrate by far.

So why isn’t CBD rosin more popular? Why are most CBD products available on the market today still made with butane or CO2?

Because current rosin technology isn’t quite up to speed with these other options. It’s not as profitable for companies to make CBD rosin products, so most companies just don’t do it — even if it’s best for the consumer.

At five CBD, we hope to change that.

What are Rosin gummies?

CBD rosin gummies are what you’re probably thinking they are: gummies that get their CBD content from rosin.

As mentioned earlier, the CBD extract present in rosin gummies actually contains far more than just CBD. It’s a truly full spectrum product! CBD rosin gummies are rich in three primary active ingredients:

  • Cannabinoids
  • Terpenes
  • Flavonoids

Let’s take a look at these one by one.

  • CBD is the primary cannabinoid in hemp. It’s basically hemp’s primary active ingredient. Like we’ve said in the past, though, hemp is so chemically diverse that the term full spectrum CBD is kind of a misnomer.
  • THC is the second most prevalent cannabinoid in hemp. It works with CBD via something called the entourage effect.
  • CBG is found in some, but not all, full spectrum CBD. It’s known as “the mother cannabinoid” because all other cannabinoids are synthesized from it. New research shows that CBD may ward off harmful bacteria. [2
  • CBN is CBG’s opposite. All cannabinoids eventually get converted into it. Some experts believe that CBN is ideal for promoting relaxation.
  • CBDv, or cannabidivarin, is a rare cannabinoid that may have anti-emetic and anti-inflammatory properties. It doesn’t show up in most CBD products, but you can be it’s contained in our CBD rosin gummies!

  • Pinene is the most prevalent terpene in many strains of hemp. Pinene is energizing and may act as a natural bronchodilator.
  • Humulene is an earthy terpene that’s found in both hemp and its close relative, hops. It may ward off inflammation. [3]
  • Limone is a citrus-ey terpene that also has anti-inflammatory properties. [4]
  • Linalool is better known as the lavender terpene, but hemp also contains it. Linalool is a natural sleep aid and antioxidant.

  • Cannflavin A is a special flavone found only in the cannabis plant family — thus the name.
  • Cannflavin B is another flavonoid found only in cannabis/hemp. Decades of studies show that it may inhibit inflammatory prostaglandins even more than aspirin. [5]

As you can see, there’s a lot going on in full spectrum CBD. No wonder some studies call hemp “the Plant of the Thousand and One Molecules!” Hemp’s combination of cannabinoids and terpenes isn’t seen in any other plant.

And here’s the important thing: a true full spectrum CBD gummy captures all of this good stuff and more. Truly full spectrum CBD gummies will be rich in CBD, other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. [6]

Why we use rosin in our gummies

We couldn’t be more thankful to announce that we’ll be coming out with a rosin-infused CBD gummy in the near future.

Why are we making the switch to rosin? Because we truly care about giving hemp’s best to our customers. Our CBD gummies already go the extra mile by featuring CBD and other cannabinoids in a full spectrum, true-to-nature 5:1 ratio. And they’re about to get even better.
